Catherine Blaya is Chair of the International Observatory of Violence in Schools (www.ijvs.org) and Professor in Education Sciences at the University Nice Sophia Antipolis. She has been dedicating her academic career to researching issues that might affect the young people’s lives such as dropping out of school, school climate, bullying, cyberbullying and cyberhate. She is involved as expert in the French Ministry of Education working groups on school climate and cyberbullying, and has led many international research projects on bullying, violence in schools, school dropout, cyberhate and school-based intervention strategies, many of them in a comparative perspective. She is involved in international research networks such as the Eu Kids Online (LSE – UK), the Flinders Research Centre: Student Wellbeing & Prevention of Violence (SWAPv) Promoting Mental Health - Preventing Violence (Australia), LASALE (Laboratoire Accrochage Scolaire et Alliances Educatives) international research centre on the prevention of school dropout.
