Timothy J. Dowd
Timothy J. Dowd is Associate Professor of Sociology at Emory University and Visiting Chair for the Humanities at Erasmus University (2007-2008). His research deals with the sociology of music, as well as with the sociologies of culture and organization. His publications include articles in American Sociological Review, Annual Review of Sociology, Rassegna Italiana di Sociologia, and Social Forces. He has also edited special issues for journals, including “Explorations in the Sociology of Music” (Poetics, 2002), “Music in Society: The Sociological Agenda” (with Richard A. Peterson, Poetics, 2004), and “The Sociology of Music: Sounds, Songs, and Society” (American Behavioral Scientist, 2005).
